| She's very efficient and good at what she does, but what I enjoy most about her is her quirkiness. There's always something slightly dark or a bit ???tasty about her character designs and their backhistories. Quincy!!!! |
| | Everything is so edibly, pleasingly cute and polished. I get such a happy feeling looking at kamiyoshi's work. |
| | LC3 has been a good mentor to me and also a fun person to hang around artist alleys with. I also find it extremely funny that he has no shame in admitting he likes cute things as he sports his hello kitty bag XD |

Shinhan Markers - A cheaper alternative to Prismas |
Posted: May/11/2008, 5:41pm

Well, I am alive, busy working on my pre-convention prep (and cleaning some images up before I do my major order of prints for the year).
While at PearlART yesterday buying some plastic Sakura erasers, I noticed a new addition to the Marker section -- Shinhan markers. The good news was the pricepoint was somewhere in the 3 dollar range, which makes it cheaper than Prismas and Copics. It also has a dual tip -- broad and fine -- although the fine is slightly better than the old tiny tiny fine tip that the old Prismas had.
My only complain though is that like Prismas, the feel of the marker is a bit rough. It looks and feels like a marker that needs marker paper to work best. It also only has about 170 or so markers apparently in total, and so it doesn't have the high level of colors that Prisma does. However, I have to say that I loved the range in warm tones for flesh colors. It feels like the range in colors is good enough for human figure rendering. (Plus, I liked that they had some really good reds and greens in the collection.)
I think this might be a good start for someone who wants Prismas minus the price, or wants to mix and match.
