So, my laptop is now for all intent and purposes, fucked. I, as a result, am fucked off.
I am borrowing Evi's laptop at the moment until I can figure out what to do. I really can't afford a new one and I don't like the idea of buying second hand but I might have to.
Saved some of my data but I've also lost a lot. This afternoon I'm making one last try at getting it to boot so I can try to recover my data.
Otherwise I'll just have to.. accept that it's toast, I guess. I am suspecting my hard drive has gone to the bad side.
Artwise:
That large work with the eyeballs has been put aside for now. It is basically finished, except that it still feels somehow unresolved to me, so I'm not going to shut the door on it yet.
I still really quite like how it came out though, it has some interesting aspects. I want to post it up one day when there are less technical difficulties.
The deadline for submitting works to the group exhibition is the 26th of March. At this point in time I'm doing better than I expected, and looks like I'll be finished with time to spare.
I've got three boards, which I'm presenting as a tryptech. Each is slightly bigger than A3 size. All of them are stencils, the most complex has 3 base layers and detail layers.
I used images of japanese rockstars - they have really high contrast images that make good stencils.
The right one has a red background/shadow layer and is of Kaoru, the middle one has a purple and black background and is of Die, and the left one has a blue background/shadow layer and is of Gackt. I'd like to post images of these up in future too.
Exhibition opens on April 3rd, and it's the first time I've ever had some work in one so I'm really excited! Inviting lots of people to the opening and everything.
It's boding well at this stage, apparently they've been getting positive comments just sitting around the studio drying. 0.o
I've gone back to messing around in my sketchbook too, which is good. Kind of like some of the pictures that came out of it. One I inked with a craft knife blade, and I'm loving the mixed media thing.
Also, I've been informally asked to design a tattoo half sleeve, because someone saw my tattoo design and some of my drawings and really liked them. If he's serious I may take him up on that, it could be an interesting challenge.
Oh yeah and next week is going to ROCK HARD.
