"If I Had an Elephant" ... |
Posted: Nov/19/2008, 1:24am Feeling: stressed & tired; Listening To: Corn dogs are not very good for you according to Mymy.; Reading: But I like corn dogs somewhat.; Watching: That is, with mustard of course.; Reading: The ones at the state fair aren't all that bad tasting.; Watching: Even if they're bad for you.

I’d teach him to hold back time so I could finish my 5new entries plus my 1old entry for my speech tournament on December 6. Not really.
*** If you’re going to be lazy & not read it all at least read the last paragraph***
How the tournament preparation is going and all my events:
A Events (I’m double entered):
1.) Lip Sync (new) – I’m doing ‘Popular’ from “Wicked”. All I need is to bring costumes, the back board, and practice.
2.) Poetry (new) – I’m doing: ‘Gray Owl’ by Joseph Payne Brennan, ‘The Tiger’ by William Blake, ‘The Jaguar’ by Ted Hughes, and ‘The Lion’ by Roald Dahl. I need to try to memorize, write & memorize intros.
B Events (I’m double entered):
3.) Original Oratory (new). I have to come up with 3 main points, research for quotes to use, write & memorize the whole thing which last ten minutes. And make it basically either persuasive or inspirational.
4.) Reader’s Theatre (is now new b/c my group changed the selection). I’m doing ‘The Fairy Godmother’s Assistant’ by Bruce Lansky. I must try to memorize my parts & others. Keep entire group of 6 girls from ‘b****ing’ instead of preparing it like what happened with the old one. (And by ‘b****ing’ I mean nonstop arguing about things that don’t matter and I think is even worth ****.) And I’m pretty sure I have to cut it so it fits into the time.
C Event (I’m double entered):
5.) TV Commercial (old). I’m doing a Forget-Me-Not-Box. My group & I made it to semi’s and the only real problems were the untidiness of the back board & smiling when we should’ve been angry or sad. This is honestly my favorite entry. It’s fun, simple, and the people who did most of the arguing are split up into different groups. And I did pretty well last time (the only thing ‘bad’ a judge wrote about me last time was that my costume made me look like a ‘carnival master’, but who cares). :D
6.) Prose (new). I’m doing ‘If I had an Elephant’ by Sam Lowe. I love this piece, it’s very humorous. And even though I picked it last night & have to perform it tomorrow, I still like it. I have to write & memorize the introduction, but that’s not so bad.
I feel good about my C events, but I’m also working on the same poetry for another class so that helps.
I’m just taking this one day at a time.
But I won’t be on as much for the rest of fall until around my winter break (it starts December 20). This is not only because I have to work on my entries (b/c I can’t drop them unless I want to pay $10 per dropped entry). But I also have my exams coming up before the break. (And I know I definantly need to work on my core subjects seeing as how I had to retake an Algebra test since I’d failed on Friday.), plus I’m falling behind on class daily work it seems. And I also have to do my science fair project as well.
Sorry. But I promise I’ll put art up when & if I can.
Thanks for understanding (& good for you if you actually read all that),
